MLA Style

MLA (Modern Language Association) Style is used in English, Composition, & Humanities courses as a consistent way to document research. It is known for its simplicity and flexibility. It offers consistent formatting for citing sources in the text  (using parentheses) and listing your Works Cited. The official style manual is the MLA Handbook. The manual is now in its 9th edition and was published in 2021. You can find the print copy near the library service desk.

Remember that most Library Databases will format your citations for you! Look for a tool or icon that says 'Cite'. The Formatting Citations page shows you where to find this tool on library search platforms.
