DeTamble Library: Policies and COVID-19 Guidelines

An overview of the library facilities and collection.

General Library Policies

General Policies

  • Parking for the LIbrary is limited to Vardell and LA lots. There is no parking next to the Library.
  • Computer use in the library is subject to the terms of the posted Campus Computer Use Policies.
  • Use of all tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, or non-prescription drugs in the Library is prohibited.
  • Weapons are not allowed in the Library or on the St. Andrews Campus.
  • Community Patrons must adhere to restrictions listed on their application form. Currently community patrons are not allowed to use the Library during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Circulation Policies

  • Students must have a current St. Andrews ID card in order to check out and renew Library materials, including Laptops.
  • Books generally circulate for 28 days. All books must be returned to the Library at the end of each term.
  • St. Andrews students have no checkout limit.
  • Through our catalog, students can view their patron record, note the books they’ve checked out, check due dates, and renew. Sign in to Your Library Account in WorldCat using the barcode from your Student ID Card.  
  • Students will be charged for the cost of a lost book plus a $15 nonrefundable processing fee. A flat rate of $50 will be charged for books no longer in print, plus the $15 nonrefundable processing fee.
  • Students will be charged $10 for books returned damaged which need to be rebound. For books damaged beyond repair, students will be charged the lost book fee.
  • Periodicals, reference materials and special collection items do not circulate and may not be removed from the Library.
  • Materials on Reserve do not circulate outside the Library unless they are designated for overnight use.
  • Laptops, Chromebooks, and other equipment must be returned by the end of the semester along with chargers. Student accounts will be billed the current replacement cost.

COVID-Related Policies

  • Face coverings/masks are no longer required in the Library as of Monday, April 4, 2022.
  • Please continue to respect others who choose to wear masks.
  • Washing hands and social distancing are still great ways to avoid spreading COVID-19 as well as other diseases.
  • Disinfectant wipes/sprays will still be available for cleaning keyboards and tables, etc.
  • There are hand sanitizing stations on all three floors for continued use.
  • Vaccinations and boosters are a great way to protect yourself and others.
